Care for Craft Punches

General tip
Always remember your work surface when you want to punch. A punch can have very sharp edges, so be alert and use a cutting mat on your work top. In this way nothing bad can happen and you can punch away nicely.

Paper thickness. Why does my punch not cut through the card?
Probably you are using paper that is too thick (card paper 160 grams). To preserve your punch you are better of using a slightly thinner type of paper, for instance 80 to 120 grams (depending on the type of punch). If you want to continue with your thicker paper there is a way to do so, but we do not guarantee that your punch remains in the same condition. The edges of the punch are very delicate. Put an aluminium ruler on the push button of the punch then press the punch through the paper. You could also consider one of the punch aids available on the market which extend the leverage on the punch, care needs to be taken when using this type of equipment.

Tip!
Is your punch not punching properly any more? Buy a silicon spray (available in every DIY store) and spray the metal part of the punch! After this your punch will work better than before and it will not damage the paper. You can also sharpen your punch by punching several times through tinfoil, which works as a punch sharpener!
